But the 590's controls are objectively better than the 870's. You don't have to remove your hand from firing position to toggle the safety or the slide release on a 590. You do on an 870. Also, the shell carrier on the 870 pinches fingers and sometimes leads to misfeeds.I have all three, plus an older Remington 870. Personally, I would trust a new 870 with the way things are going at Remington. QC seems to have taken a nose-dive, bit time in the last several years.
