It would not be from "bad" gas, Only gas with an octane rating lower than your engine requires will cause knocking (detonation) which sounds like marbles rattling around under you hood. You might try turning the key to ON, and turning the heat on, and then play with the controls (vent selector, hot/cold knobs, and recirc button) and see if you can affect the clicking. That may help you pinpoint the culprit. Put you hand on the actuators when they are making the noise and you can feel which actuator is bad. Replace that actuator by removing the screws (2) that hold it on.
