I own a pre-Virtus MCX and my highest end AR is a BCM 14.5" middy with their MCMR handguard. Personally, I think the MCX is a pretty well thought out design. I sold the legacy upper and I am now using the virtus upper on teh legacy lower. I didnt even think to see if the legacy lowers were compatible with virtus uppers.The reason the Virtus has a special trigger is because the hammer interfaces with the firing pin latch on the Virtus upper a certain way. So you need an MCX trigger with a Virtus upper. Not sure what aftermarket Virtus accessories are available that won't also fit … ….
