I had Red & White Wire from furnace, but I needed power to the thermostat. I bought a 24 volt transformer. I ran transformer wires up to the location of the thermostat. Attached the Red Wire to the R Lug & the White Wire to the W Lug on the New plate than Attached one of the transformer wires to the C Lug & the other to the RC Lug.Connect your Switch+. Match the neutral wire from your Switch+. to the 2 neutral wires from your wall box. Together, insert them into the wire nut. to connect. Match the remaining wires as. shown and secure with wire nuts. Switch wire. Switch wire.Emergency heat is supposed to be used when the heat pump fails. I eventually had to wire it up so the oil heat is the AUX heat and the heat pump is turned off when the temps fall below 40F. Really wish ecobee would add in the concept of emergency heat, because the W1 wire in my system WILL NOT turn on emergency heat as ecobee support claimed. 1.To add to what everyone else has said. You have a heat pump. W2 should go in W1. And E (emergency heat) should go in W2. I have the same set up. I put my W2 into the W2 slot on the Ecobee, and my E wire into W1. Everything works fine.
