The “evil” features are cool and most of my rifles are maglock, but if you are going to use it for self defense, featureless is better since it will allow you to clear malfunctions easily and reload on the fly. The PC9 is also a pretty good choice. But it is also a damn good plinking gun. No maglock system I know of should interfere with the operation of the rifle while the recievers are closed. There is an issue of some maglock systems preventing you from dropping a mag with an open bolt and clearing malfunctions, but not all have this issue.
